VMB vs Snowdon: One Mountain, One Team
26 August 2026
At VMB Autocentres, we’re used to taking on challenges. Usually, those challenges involve engines, diagnostics, brakes, tyres and keeping our customers safely on the road. But this time, we decided to swap the workshop for the mountains and take on a challenge that would test us in a completely different way.
On 27 June 2026, the VMB team took on Snowdon, all in aid of raising money for two fantastic causes: BEN and Ryegate Children’s Centre. What started with a £1,000 fundraising target ended with us raising an incredible £1,225. But the money raised was only part of the story.
Why Snowdon?
The idea behind VMB vs Snowdon was simple. We wanted to challenge ourselves as a team while doing something that could make a genuine difference to other people. BEN supports people who work in the automotive industry, while Ryegate Children’s Centre provides specialist care and support for children and their families. Both causes are incredibly important, and we wanted our challenge to have a purpose beyond simply reaching the top of a mountain.
So, Snowdon it was. Simple enough, right? Well… not quite.
The Big Day
Then came 27 June. The team arrived ready to take on Snowdon, with the fundraising target firmly in our minds. The climb tested everyone differently. There were steep sections, tired legs, plenty of sweating and probably a few moments where some of us questioned exactly why we’d signed up for this.
But that’s what made reaching the summit even more rewarding. Everyone had their own pace and their own challenges to deal with, but the goal remained the same: get to the top together.
And eventually, we did.
Reaching the Summit
Standing at the top of Snowdon was a brilliant feeling. After all the preparation, the fundraising, the training and the climb itself, we’d done it.
But looking back, reaching the summit wasn’t necessarily the biggest achievement. The biggest achievement was what the challenge had managed to accomplish as a team. We’d taken ourselves well outside our comfort zones, created something for our customers and followers to get behind, and raised money for two brilliant causes.
£1,225 Raised!
When we first announced VMB vs Snowdon, our target was £1,000. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our customers, suppliers, friends, family and everyone who supported the campaign, we didn’t just reach that target.
We beat it.
£1,225 raised for BEN and Ryegate Children’s Centre.
That is something the whole VMB team can be incredibly proud of. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helped us get closer to that total. The messages of encouragement, shares, comments and support throughout the campaign made a huge difference too.
More Than Just a Fundraiser
VMB vs Snowdon was never just about climbing a mountain. It was about bringing people together.
It’s easy to spend every day focused on work, customers, vehicles and keeping the business moving. Taking on a challenge like this gave us the opportunity to step away from the workshops, spend time together and work towards something completely different.
It also gave us the chance to show a different side of VMB. Yes, we’re mechanics, technicians, drivers, managers and office staff. But we’re also a team.
And sometimes the best way to prove that is to put everyone on a mountain and see what happens.
A Huge Thank You
We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported VMB vs Snowdon. To everyone who donated, shared our posts, followed the journey, and to our customers and suppliers who got behind us. And, of course, to everyone from the VMB team who took on the challenge.
You helped us raise £1,225 for BEN and Ryegate Children’s Centre, and we’re incredibly grateful.
The mountain may be behind us now, but the reason we climbed it will stay with us.
One mountain. One team. £1,225 raised.
That’s VMB vs Snowdon.
And after this one… we’re already wondering what we’re going to take on next.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
