When my husband and I set off in our motorhome for a weekend away at around 15:30 on Friday, we could hear a noise coming from the rear passenger side. We live near VMB, and I had had a great experience, when I had 2 new tires fitted there a few months previously. So I decided to drop in for their advice, and to see if we were safe to drive the motorhome. They were happy to help us, despite the time of day and had a look at it there and then. It turned out the brushes on the suspension were just dry and creaking, and needed oiling, which they did. I went in to pay and they didn’t want any payment. I’ll definitely be going back there in future.
I don’t usually write reviews, but after my recent experience with VMB in Sheffield, I felt it was absolutely necessary to share just how impressed I was with their service. I brought my vehicle in for what turned out to be quite a major set of repairs — the kind of work that could make even a seasoned driver feel nervous. We’re talking a full timing chain replacement, new clutch and flywheel, EGR cooler, and even the leaf springs — so, not just a quick tune-up by any means. From the very first interaction, the team at VMB were nothing short of excellent. The communication was spot on. They talked me through what the car needed and explained each repair in a way that made sense — no jargon, no sales pitch, just honest, knowledgeable advice. That in itself made a huge difference. It’s rare these days to find a garage that takes the time to make sure you understand what’s going on with your own vehicle. Now let’s talk about the actual work — which, in a word, was flawless. This wasn’t just one or two repairs, it was a serious overhaul, and they handled it with precision and care. Replacing the timing chain is a job that requires serious technical know-how, and the clutch/flywheel and EGR cooler aren’t exactly walk-in-the-park jobs either. Not only did they sort the timing chain and clutch, but I’m pretty sure the car gained 3 horsepower purely from the vibes in the workshop alone. On top of that, sorting the leaf springs shows they’re just as comfortable handling the heavy-duty components as they are with the more delicate internals. What stood out to me the most was how efficiently they managed to complete everything. I expected to be without my car for a good while, especially given the scale of work, but they turned it around quicker than I imagined — without compromising on quality in the slightest. When I picked up the vehicle, it felt like a different car altogether: smoother, more responsive, and mechanically sound in every way. Another thing that deserves praise is their pricing. Let’s be real — this level of work doesn’t come cheap at any garage, and rightly so. But VMB were fair, transparent, and competitive. They broke everything down clearly and didn’t hit me with any hidden charges or surprise additions. It felt like they genuinely care about offering value for money, and in today’s world, that’s a rare thing. The professionalism of the staff, the quality of the work, and the overall customer service made this one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with an auto shop. They’ve earned my trust completely, and I won’t be going anywhere else from now on. If you’re in Sheffield or nearby and need serious mechanical work done properly, I cannot recommend VMB highly enough. Whether it’s routine servicing or complex engine work, this is a garage that knows what they’re doing and truly looks after their customers. Top marks across the board
Luke took great care of me and my car during its service and mot work. Thank you, I will be back
