Questions we're frequently asked at VMB Autocentre
What is a wet belt and how do I know if mine needs replacing?
A wet belt is a timing belt that runs inside the engine, bathed in oil, and is fitted to many modern petrol and diesel engines instead of a traditional dry belt or chain. Warning signs can include a rattle on start-up, oil contamination or the belt being due by age or mileage, and if it fails it can cause serious engine damage. We can inspect it, show you its condition and replace it if needed, following the manufacturer’s schedule for your engine.
